Batterydisposal

The following information is intended for those who use batteries or products containing built-in batteries and do not resell them in the form in which they were supplied (end users).

1. Free collection of used batteries

Batteries must not be disposed of with household waste. You are legally obliged to return used batteries to ensure they are disposed of properly. You can hand in used batteries at a local collection point or at a local shop.

As a distributor of batteries, we are also obliged to take back used batteries; however, our take-back obligation is limited to used batteries of the type that we currently stock or have previously stocked as new batteries. You can therefore either return used batteries of the aforementioned type to us with sufficient postage, or hand them in free of charge directly at our distribution centre at the following address:

2. Meaning of the battery symbols

Batteries are marked with the symbol of a crossed-out wheelie bin. This symbol indicates that batteries must not be disposed of with household waste.

For batteries containing more than 0.0005 per cent by mass of mercury, more than 0.002 per cent by mass of cadmium or more than 0.004 per cent by mass of lead, the chemical name of the relevant hazardous substance is shown beneath the waste bin symbol:
